TRANSPORTATION
Air Service: Air service to Cortez is available from Denver International Airport, with daily flights on Great Lakes Airlines. To book your reservations the destination abbreviation is CEZ.
Ground Service:Car rental services are available. Two companies are located at the airport, and one is located in Cortez, with airport pick up.
Taxi Service: Taxi service is also available and many of the area hotels/motels provide shuttle service. Be sure to check with your hotel/motel when making reservations to see if they provide airport pick-up service.
Public Transportation: Montezuma Public Transportation provides county-wide transportation Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm for the general public. Other times may be arranged in advance.
A round trip within the Cortez city limits is $4. Outside the Cortez city limits is $11. From Dolores to Cortez is $11, and from Mancos to Cortez is $16.
Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. Call (970) 565-4166 to schedule a ride. All transportation is handicapped accessible.
Rail Service: Train service is available to Gallup, New Mexico (136 miles south of Cortez). Rental cars are available in Gallup.
VISITOR CENTERS
The Colorado Welcome Center is located in Cortez, at 928 E. Main, (970) 565-3414. The Center has information on area attractions as well as information and maps for the entire state of Colorado. The Colorado Welcome Center is open year-round, seven days a week, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Easter. Hours are 8 am to 6 pm Memorial Day to Labor Day, 8 am to 5 pm during the fall, and 9 am to 5 pm in winter.
The Dolores Visitor Center is located in downtown Dolores, at 201 Railroad Avenue, (970) 882-4018, and is open spring, summer, and fall.
The Mancos Visitor Center is located in the historic Bauer House on Main Street in Mancos, (970) 533-7434, and is open year round, with hours varying by season.
DISABILITY ACCESS
Mesa Verde National Park has several facilities that are wheelchair accessible, including the mesa top sites and overlooks and the museum. Due to the canyon location and ladder/stair entry into the cliff dwellings, they are not accessible by wheelchair. The path to Spruce Tree House is paved and does not have steps or ladders, but it is steep and requires assistance for someone in a wheelchair.
