Taxi service is also available and many of the area hotels/motels provide shuttle service. Be sure to check with your hotel/motel when making reservations to see if they provide airport pick-up service. VISITOR CENTERS The Colorado Welcome Center is located in Cortez, at 928 E. Main, 970-565-3414. The Center has information on area attractions as well as information and maps for the entire state of Colorado. The Colorado Welcome Center is open year-round, seven days a week, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Easter.
DISABILITY ACCESS Mesa Verde National Park has several facilities that are wheelchair accessible, including the mesa top sites and overlooks and the museum. Due to the canyon location and ladder/stair entry into the cliff dwellings, they are not accessible by wheelchair. The path to Spruce Tree House is paved and does not have steps or ladders, but it is steep and requires assistance for someone in a wheelchair. The San Juan National Forest has developed many accessible facilities. For up-to-date information contact the Forest Service Office at 970-882-7296. The Anasazi Heritage Center and the Cortez Cultural Center are fully accessible to wheelchairs.
